Matt Vaughan CFE, CPP

Matt has 30 years of security and risk experience in multiple industries including technology, industrial manufacturing and mining, and pharmaceuticals. He served as the Chief Security Officer for Shire Pharmaceuticals, Alcoa, and 3Com, as well as the executive head of security for Micron Semiconductor and Skype. He has extensive international experience covering more than 60 countries in six continents.

Matt has extensive experience in investigations, risk assessments, guard force management, workplace violence prevention, IP protection, travel security, supply chain security, operations, policy development, business continuity, counterfeit prevention, and diversion prevention programs.

During his tenure at Skype and at Alcoa, he created a security department from the ground up. At Shire and at Micron, he led efforts to re-organize security departments to better match their changing risk profiles. He has managed teams of more than 75 internal employees and several thousand security officers with a budget of over $40 million in external spend. Matt’s ability to collaborate with other stakeholders has afforded him opportunities to assume additional departmental responsibilities within organizations, such as leading Information Security, Insurance, and Procurement teams for a more comprehensive risk mitigation program.

Matt holds his Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and Certified Fraud Examiners (CFE) designations, is an active member of OSAC, a former member of ISMA, and a former board member of the Alliance for Grey Market and Counterfeit Abatement (AGMA). He is a graduate of Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s degree in Administration of Justice and a minor in Psychology.
