Description:

The Vice President & Chief of Security will directly lead and execute all security related operations, security standards, strategies, and operational support to maintain the safety and security of The Mirage. This includes overseeing the security management team and staff regarding physical security and security operations.

The Vice President & Chief of Security will develop and implement the strategic plan and vision for security operations and provide direct leadership through ongoing security guidance, assistance, training and driving the implementation of security initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the provision of uniform and consistent standards related to safety, security, and readiness protocols.
  • Review and implement security assessments to identify policy, staffing, and technology requirements that drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide oversight and leadership in the event of an incident.
  • Frequently walk the property with key department members to identify and formulate strategies for mitigating property issues around security management situations.
  • Maintain regular communication with any and all departments regarding security and risk control/loss prevention and liability issues to assure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Develops cost proposals and cost estimates for protective equipment and resources as needed.
  • Ensure cross departmental collaboration on policies and procedures that directly impact liability or safety and security issues.
  • Provide leadership for the division, including strategic planning, creating a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, mutual respect and team member satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent education and experience
  • At least six (10) years of government or private industry experience in the security field, including experience in preparing risk assessments, operational security plans, and conducting security reviews, and/or after-action reports.
  • Sufficient work experience as demonstrated by a history of successfully performing analysis and problem-solving actions and the preparation of professional security policy and planning documents.
  • Experience briefing senior management concerning important security topics.
  • Experience working in an environment entailing large public crowds, as demonstrated by past work experience within corporate or subsidiary-level security operations, police, military, or other emergency services agency.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to move throughout the business (standing, walking, kneeling, bending) for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to make repeating movements of the arms, hands, and wrists.
  • Ability to occasionally move objects (lift, push, pull, balance, carry) up to 10 pounds / 5 kilograms.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to heat, cold, chemicals, and loud/noisy environment.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Deep understanding of the gaming & hospitality industry hotels
  • Passion for music and knowledge of music trends preferred.
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
