This position is located within the Office of Accountability and Whistleblower Protection (OAWP) and reports to the Deputy Assistant Secretary for OAWP. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1) Direct oversight of advisory, analyses and strategic development of OAWP policies and procedures regarding intake and investigations.
2) Ensures fair, timely, and thorough investigations are conducted according to established procedures and policies with the highest degree of integrity.
3) Reviews proposed legislation and enacted laws, regulations, executive orders, and related documents and implements appropriate action affecting OAWP investigatory functions.
4) Represents the Assistant Secretary in confidential, sensitive and complex meetings with employees, media, and Congress by developing and presenting briefings and/or reports and may be required to testify to Congress.
5) Oversees and leads a large (80+) staff of attorneys, investigators, and analysts as they establish national-level policy and procedures and implement the Accountability Act.
6) Participates as a member of OAWP's senior leadership with responsibility to assist in execution of OAWP's strategy and goals to meet its mission.
