Description:

The Security Director executes concepts for physical security and crisis management, develops related comprehensive risk prevention and mitigation strategies, and provides governance in implementing plans and processes across the organization, ensuring a state of preparedness both in a hands-on and enterprise level. This role acts both hands-on and in a strategic manner to ensure that policies, standards, and goals are in place and that sites are audited against these standards by appropriately implementing physical security management system(s). Utilizing their security expertise, the Security Director provides guidance to all business units and enhances CFF's ability to identify and mitigate relevant risks. This is a hybrid role based in Bethesda, MD, and requires 2-3 days per week in the Bethesda office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes an understanding of physical security and crisis-related issues at all levels of management.
  • Ensures the adoption and deployment of relevant physical security programs and initiatives within the organization.
  • Develops and implements strategies to enhance safety of staff, volunteers and attendees.
  • Coordinates planning and setting of strategic physical security-related goals and alignment for relevant priorities.
  • Utilizes best practices to help protect the organization from physical security-related risks, including potential reputational risks.
  • Develops and delivers relevant safety and physical security/preparedness training.
  • Leads the creation of reports and analytics, benchmarking results with comparable situations from other organizations.
  • Manages the relationship, scope of contract, and business reviews with any external physical security providers.

Qualifications:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of ten years of experience.
  • Substantive, relevant security/crisis management leadership experience in corporate, university, military, or law enforcement.
  • Ability and experience in monitoring the threat landscape to identify potential risks and initiative necessary preventive measures.
  • Experience in the development, review, and implementation of physical security strategies.
  • Ability to understand the business context and physical security challenges; and apply appropriate physical security strategies and solutions in response to risks and requirements.

Preferred

  • Masters degree.
  • Certifications in Security, Risk, or Crisis Management.
  • Proficiency in surveillance camera and access control technologies.
  • Experience in security and crisis-relevant topics and incidents.
  • Advanced law enforcement training, which could include the completion of the
  • FBI National Academy, Northwestern Police Staff and Command School,
  • Southern Police Institute, etc.
  • The ability to be HR 218 qualified.
