Tom Bello

Tom Bello is a senior risk management and global security professional with 38 years of combined experience in Federal law enforcement and corporate security leadership for the worlds’ largest energy company. He has proven expertise in establishing and leading security operations in high / severe threat environments, kidnap response, country emergency evacuation, host government / law enforcement liaison, workplace violence prevention programs, global threat and risk assessment, executive protection, special event planning, and managing complex investigations.

Tom was employed for 17 years with Exxon Mobil Corporation, where he served in a number of senior leadership positions in Global Security around the world. Tom managed the Security Intelligence Response Center (SIRC) and the Security Risk Management Program. Tom’s other roles during his time at Exxon included Executive Protection Services and the Team Lead of the High Threat Group, where he engineered and facilitated security support for operations in high and severe threat environments, to include Kidnap Response and Country Emergency Evacuation Planning, and Critical Incident Response. Tom was the designated subject matter expert for Kidnap Response and Kidnap Risk and Hostage Behavior Awareness at Exxon Mobil. He designed and managed a program which delivered kidnap risk and hostage behavior awareness training to over 2500 employees traveling, working, and living in high / severe threat environments.

Prior to joining Exxon Mobil, Tom completed a twenty-year career with the United States Secret Service (1983-2003). He served as an Assistant Special Agent In-Charge in the Office of Administration; two separate assignments in the Office of Congressional Affairs; and Assistant to the Special Agent In-Charge and Supervisor of the Houston Hi-Tech Electronic Crimes Task Force.

Tom Holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgetown University, Washington DC, and worked towards a Master of Public Administration at both Virginia Tech University and George Mason University.
